Windmill publishes fiction, creative nonfiction, art, and literary conversations. We feature emerging writers alongside established and strive to publish the voices of the traditionally unheard and underrepresented.

We seek creative nonfiction that celebrates strong narrative voice. We are open to reported and personal essays, including experimental and flash nonfiction. We strive to showcase both emerging and established writers, especially voices traditionally underrepresented in the publishing industry.

Our issues are not themed and submissions should be 3,500 words or less. Work should be double spaced, 12-point font, and in .doc or .docx format. Works must be original and not previously published (in print or via blog, newsletter, social media, or other digital platforms). Please note in your cover letter if this is a simultaneous submission and kindly withdraw your work in a timely manner if submitted elsewhere.

Please not: All work must be submitted via Submittable. We look forward to reading your submission!
